When you have a problem getting your doctor bill paid by your insurance company or difficulty with coverage for a prescription or medical test, there is a place to turn. State Rep. Pam Sawyer often takes calls from local residents with health insurance issues that she refers to that the state Office of the Healthcare Advocate to get help.

“Sometimes as little as a phone call by the Advocate can straighten out fairly simple situations,” said Rep. Sawyer. “In complex ones, it may take a more lengthy inquiry. In either case, the Healthcare Advocate can provide assistance and it is FREE!”

The contact information is:

Office of the Healthcare Advocate

The Office of the Healthcare Advocate is dedicated to serving Connecticut’s health insurance consumers by resolving conflicts with their insurance plans. It takes a multifaceted approach: direct consumer advocacy with insurance companies as well as education, interagency coordination and a voice in the legislative process.

The Office of the Healthcare Advocate was created in 1999 by the Connecticut State General Assembly by passage of Public Act 99-284 “An Act Concerning Managed Care Accountability”.

Rep. Sawyer serves the 55th Assembly District of Andover, Bolton, Hebron and Marlborough.
