Have questions about the H1N1 influenza known as ’swine flu’?
State Rep. Pam Sawyer encourages residents to check out information regarding the virus which is available to the public.

“The best protection is information,” said Rep. Sawyer. “The national Centers for Disease Control, the state Department of Public Health as well as the Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security have information available with just a click on your computer.” They are:

“Governor Rell has ordered the Department of Public Health to distribute nearly 10,000 treatment courses of antiviral medication to hospitals as a precaution. At this time there have been few confirmed cases in Connecticut and the danger seems to be contained,” said Rep. Sawyer. “Nevertheless, it is best to remain vigilant and be informed with all available flu resources. We do not yet know whether this new strain of influenza will reoccur next fall.”

Rep. Sawyer added, “State, federal and local health officials are monitoring this situation . The websites are an easy, reliable way for statewide and local residents to learn more and keep themselves on the leading edge.”
